Auto Theft

The two reasons why cars get stolen are for transportation or parts. The top 10 most stolen cars in Canada are:
1.2009 Toyota Venza 4-door
2.1999 Honda Civic SiR 2-door
3.2000 Honda Civic SiR 2-door
4.2006 Ford F-350 Pickup Truck 4WD
5.2002 Cadillac Escalade EXT 4-door AWD
6.2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS 4-door 4WD
7.2007 Ford F-350 Pickup Truck 4WD
8.2001 Pontiac Aztek 4-door AWD
9.1998 Acura Integra 2-door
10.1999 Acura Integra 2-door

The highest rate of car theft is in Toronto because it is one of the biggest cities in Canada. On average a car is stolen every 3 1/2 minutes or 420 per day in Canada. To protect themselves some people have car alarms tho most car are made with them or they buy a steering wheel lock.

Successful professional burglars

Professional burglars target commercial properties rather than residential because with commercial properties the burglar can scope the place out from the inside during business hour, see where everything is layed out and how much the pay off could be for the job.

Before a job a burglar may scope the place out, get an idea of what and where everything is. The burglar may phone from a pay phone then check if it's still ringing to see if anyone's home. They like to target people they know. They may dress up as a cable or FedEx man. Work in teams, one looks out while the others rob the place. They like to target drug dealer because the hold money and drugs on them and won't contact the police.

Professional burglars target the same residents more than once because
 -It takes less effort
-They are aware of the layout
-Easy entry and the escape routes are known
 -Lack of protective measure
-Goods have been observed the first time and they collect what they might have missed

The characteristics of a good burglar include
 -technical competence
 -personal integrity
 -specialization in burglary
 -financial success
-the ability to avoid prison sentencing

Sexual Assault

Men usually learn about sex from older brothers or friends so some of their views could be corrupted. Men who are "hyper-masculine" do get a lot of girls because they're smooth and very confident, men who commit sexual assault are lonely and don't get a lot of "tail" so it's hard to say hyper masculinity factors in. In the new and growing culture the kids are growing up in now sex is everywhere. kids learn at an early age men should take charge and women should just obey. A good documentary to watch to learn about this would be "Sext up kids".

Clifford Robert Olson Jr and Marc Lepine

Marc Lepine- On a cloudy and drizzly winter day Marc Lepine took a semi automatic rifle into a a Montreal university and shot and killed 14 woman and injured 13 students. Marc killed all those woman because he was very sexist and blamed woman for all his mistakes and for taking jobs from men.

Clifford Olson- Clifford Olson in total kill 11 people. He said if they gave him $100,000 he would give the locations of his victims. I think he did it because he liked young people cause he's disgusting.

The short and long term impacts on victims of crime.

Short Term: If it's an assault or rape you could have bruising or cuts (physical damage). When you go into the police station to id the criminal your getting re-victimized in having to explain his or her appearance. You could lose your job because of lose of sleep. You could become embarrassed about being assaulted and not tell the police or loved ones.

Long Term: A victim of crime could become paranoid, making it very hard to sleep at night or like in law and order the victim put 6 or 7 locks on the door. Victims often change their routine sometime drastically, in law and order the women started to sleep in shoes. Some victims go so far as to move homes or even cities because of the fear of being re-victimized. In the case of a sexually assault the victim could become abstinent and eventually lead to a break up.

In this news story Kelli (rape victim) explains how she was sexually assaulted after being robbed while she was sleeping right next to her husband. Kelli says " It's so frightening because my husband was in bed with me," she said. "I thought about this when we were at the RCMP station. He could have killed us. He could've killed us while we were sleeping."

A good way to lessen the impact a rape has on someone would be to not put them through an eight hour interrogation like in law and order. the victim also should not have to be swabbed down for DNA because that would be re-victimizing them.

Why do we have such a drug problem in Budish Kushlumbia? LOL

The drug problem is so high in B.C. partly because of the low wealth isolated communities scattered throughout B.C. Another reason why drugs are so prevalent, mostly pot, is the perfect climate to grow in, very wet and warm for Canada. A lot of the towns and cities in B.C. are located near the border allowing drug smuggling easier for people. Hiding of pot is much easier in B.C. because of dense, large forests.
